Barbara Shotland

NCJWA NSW President

 

Barbara Shotland is President of NCJWA NSW and was formerly its Treasurer for many years. She is a trauma counsellor with a Social Work degree, who immigrated from South Africa in 1997. She joined NCJWA NSW in 2001, co-chairing it 2006-9 and working variously on its Cuddle Bundles, Connecting  and Days For Girls programs.

Barbara was a National Committee Volunteer at the 2000 Paralympics, and has been involved in many community services, including multicultural work with Aboriginal & Maori women and the HIPPY program which services disadvantaged schools. She also established the Miriam Steyn group for new arrivals from South Africa.

She is a Director of the Double Bay Bowling Club and former Director of Women’s Bowls NSW. She also sits on the Wolper Hospital Wellbeing Program Board.

Barbara was a co-founding Director of NCJWA NSW’s flagship Mum for Mum program, which she served for 10 years.
